Refund and return to stock

A refund reverses some or all of a sale's money; a return to stock puts the goods back on the shelf. They are separate decisions and should be recorded separately.

A damaged item is refunded but not restocked. A change of mind is both. Recording the refund beside the original sale, instead of editing the sale, keeps last month's revenue stable and lets reports show gross and net.

In Inventory Now

Refund in full or per line, choose whether goods return to stock, and the refund posts to QuickBooks as a refund receipt.
