Inventory Now

Definition

Point of sale (POS)

A point of sale is where the sale is rung up: the software that builds the cart, applies tax and discounts, takes payment and records the order.

A POS that talks to inventory adjusts stock the moment a sale is paid. One that does not leaves you reconciling two systems. Card payment itself is usually handled by a separate processor such as Square, with the POS handing over the total.

In Inventory Now

Build the cart, take payment with Square or Tap to Pay, and stock and Shopify update behind the scenes.
