Do I need an account to try Inventory Now?

Accepted Answer

No. Download the app and start adding items right away. The free tier keeps up to 10 items on one device. Create an account when you want cloud sync, more devices, or a paid plan.

Which devices does Inventory Now run on?

Native apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android, plus a web app at inventorynow.app for any computer with a browser. One account syncs all of them. The web app is included with Professional plans.

Can I import my existing inventory?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Import items from a CSV file. The columns must match our template, so the easiest way is to add one item, export, and use that file as your template. Open the CSV from email with “Copy to Inventory Now”, or save it to Dropbox/Apps/InventoryTracker and import from Settings. Order and summary exports cannot be imported back.

Question 4

When logging in, I am asked to Overwrite or Merge. What does this mean?

If your device already has data when you sign in, we need to know what to do with it. Overwrite replaces the local copy with what is saved to your account (fast). Merge sends your local records to the server, reconciles them with your account and pulls the result back (slower, but keeps changes you made while signed out).

Which hardware barcode scanners are supported?

Native support for Linea Pro 6/7 series, Infinea X series and Infinea TAB 4 series scanners. Most other Bluetooth or USB scanners work as keyboard-wedge devices: tap the search bar on the Items tab and scan, and the app treats the input exactly like a camera scan, opening the matching item or creating a new one.

What happens when I scan a barcode the app has never seen?

Inventory Now looks the code up in a shared product catalog and, if needed, an AI fallback fills in the name, category, suggested prices and a photo. Smart Scan can do the same from a product photo or label. You can also generate your own UPCs and SKUs and export them for printing.

How does the Square integration work?

Accepted Answer

Install the Square Point of Sale app and sign in. In Inventory Now, add items to the cart, add tax, fees or discounts, then Check Out and choose Square. The order total is handed to Square, you take the card or tap-to-pay payment there, and Square returns to Inventory Now and marks the order as paid. Choose Manual Checkout to record a cash sale yourself.

Can I sell without the cart?

Yes. Press Sell on any item, enter the quantity and price, and save. Enable “Prefer Checkout when Selling” in Settings to make Add to Cart the default instead.

How do refunds work?

Accepted Answer

Refund an order in full or one line at a time, choose whether the goods returned to stock, add an extra amount for shipping or goodwill and note the reason. The original sale is kept as it was; the refund is recorded beside it, so reports show gross and net. Refunds from Shopify and eBay import automatically and every refund posts to QuickBooks as a refund receipt.

How do I track the same product in different locations or categories?

Use Variants. Items that share a name but differ in size, color, location or category are grouped, and the group view shows stock and revenue for all of them together. Drag and drop stock from one variant to another to move it between locations, and tap any line to edit that item.

Can I use it for equipment that gets checked out and returned?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Switch the lifecycle to check-out / check-in in Settings and items track who has them and when they came back instead of bought and sold.

How does a stocktake work?

Start a stocktake session, choose the location and scan or type counts. Sessions survive interruptions. Preview every discrepancy before you commit; completing the session adjusts the counts and saves a report, and Undo restores the previous counts. You can also export a count template, fill it in as a spreadsheet and import it.

How are the summary numbers calculated?

Net profit is total money earned minus total money spent. Accumulated profit counts profit only on items that have sold and ignores the cost of unsold stock. Completed profit margin divides profit on completed items by their sales revenue; completed mark-up divides that profit by their cost. Expense tracking on Professional turns gross profit into True Profit.

What is stock velocity?

Inventory Now watches each item's sales rate and converts your stock into days of cover. Set a low-stock threshold in units or in days and you get a push notification before you run out. Open an item to see units sold and stock over 7, 30 and 90 days.

Why am I getting logged out of the app?

Accepted Answer

Two reasons: your session timed out (roughly a month without opening the app), or you exceeded the number of devices for your plan. Personal allows three simultaneous devices; a fourth sign-in logs the oldest one out. If that happens often, Professional removes the limit.

How do I cancel or change my subscription?

Accepted Answer

Subscriptions are managed through Apple or Google, so change or cancel them in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. We cannot view or modify them directly. See Apple's guide at support.apple.com/en-us/HT202039.

With an account, everything syncs to our servers the moment it changes and can be restored on any device. Turn on automatic Dropbox backups for an extra copy you control, and export CSV, PDF, images and barcode sheets at any time.
