Newest updates

Every update, newest first.

Inventory Now ships an update every week or two. Version 8.9.1 went live on Oct 23, 2026. Minor patch releases are folded into the release they fixed.

  1. Version 8.9.1Latest

    Bluetooth scanners, no tap required.

    • Bluetooth and USB barcode scanners now work straight from the item list. Scan, and the item opens. No tapping into the search field first.
    • Export every barcode and SKU label at once, as a zip or a photo album, so you can queue them all to a label printer in one go.
  2. Version 8.8.1

A fresh icon, and one list for customers and vendors.

    • A new app icon: the kraft box.
    • A new setting combines your customer and vendor lists when filtering, for shops where the same people buy and sell.
  3. Version 8.7.1

Customers on sales, vendors on purchases.

    • Add a customer to a sale or a vendor to a purchase right from the Sell or Buy screen, then see or change it in the cart.
    • The Customers screen has a Customers | Vendors switch.
    • The plan chooser, sign-in and sign-up screens have a fresh look, and each Pro feature explains itself in one simple sheet.
    • Stocktake rows stay put when you tap + and −, file imports are faster, and importing the same count file twice no longer doubles your counts.
    • Reports show real numbers on free accounts, and a Smart Scan camera crash is fixed.
  4. Version 8.5.2

FIFO costing, and a better first run.

    • Opt-in FIFO cost accounting for Pro: cost of goods comes from the purchase batches you actually sold, with a Cost Method setting and a Batches view on each item.
    • Orders search asks the server, so it finds orders that are not on your device.
    • A new intro tour and first-item tips for new accounts.
    • The customer portal is always reachable, with a working demo and a Pro upsell over the locked list.
    • A new invoice option shows item descriptions on invoices and receipts.
    • More reliable offline sales and cart syncing, no more duplicate orders when editing items, plus fixes to the Expenses tab and notifications.

8.6.1 followed on October 10 with a round of bug fixes.

  5. Version 8.4.3

    Stocktakes for the Personal plan.

    • Stocktake sessions come to Personal subscriptions: one a month.
    • View an item's full count and cost / revenue history from the Recent Orders page.
    • The item screen shows total value and expected profit.

8.4.4 and 8.4.5 (September 26) fixed the profit margin calculation, offline order handling and report reloading.

  6. Version 8.3.1

Weekly and daily reports, in the app and in your inbox.

    • The Summary tab becomes Reports, with weekly and daily activity reports.
    • The same reports can arrive by email every week. Choose the delivery or turn it off in Settings.
    • The Items tab no longer lags on large accounts.
  7. Version 8.2.1

Edit the cart in place. Sign in with Apple or Google.

    • Edit item counts and costs while an item is in your cart and an order is in progress.
    • Sign in or sign up with Apple and Google, in the apps and on the web.
    • On iPhone, iPad and Mac, App Intents open items, orders, customers, a sale, a purchase or a stocktake from Shortcuts and Siri, and a Scan Barcode quick action sits on the home-screen icon.
    • On the web, edit order lines in place and import items from a template with a progress page.
  8. Version 8.1.1

Stocktakes in the app, and reorder velocity.

    • Run stocktake sessions right from the apps. Your team scans the shelves together and you reconcile the count with what the app thought you had. Stocktake-only team members are included.
    • Stock velocity: average time on the shelf and days of stock remaining, with a low-stock threshold in days, set once or per item to match your supplier's lead time. You get a notification when an item is due for reorder.
  9. Version 8.0.2

App Connections: Shopify, eBay and QuickBooks.

    • Shopify: import your products and locations and keep them in sync. Shopify orders, refunds and cancellations come in as orders and update your counts, selling updates your Shopify stock, and editing a linked item pushes the change back. Bulk export your catalog, or install from the Shopify App Store and your store links up automatically.
    • eBay: publish items straight to eBay in a few taps, with eBay cards on the item and order screens, provider badges in the order list and a link to your Seller Hub. Refunds that start on eBay are recognized alongside your other sales channels.
    • QuickBooks Online: completed, paid sales post as sales receipts; purchases and expenses post as purchases, categorized to match yours. Edit or delete an order and its QuickBooks entry follows. Write-only: nothing is ever read from your books.
    • Add any number of item-specific custom fields, and returns show in your summary.
  10. Version 7.7.2

    Variants, refunds and returns.

    • Similar items are now Variants. Groups appear together on your item list, and you can drill into a group to see it by variant field and by location.
    • Mark orders as refunds and returns, and see the payment status on every order.
    • A new invoice setting puts item thumbnails on invoices and receipts, with tighter spacing so there are no blank pages. The web app gets printable invoices and receipts too.
    • A new Description field, separate from Notes, and improvements to Move Item.
    • Offline order sync errors are shown instead of hidden, and account reset now clears orders as well.
  11. Version 7.5.1

    Smart Scan.

    • Smart Scan: take a picture of a product and Inventory Now works out what it is and suggests a price.
    • Up to five custom fields.
    • Pin your top sellers and they stay at the top of the Items screen.

7.6.1 (August 10) added custom fields to the For Sale PDF, polished Smart Scan and added a developer log you can send to support.

  12. Version 7.4.0

    Imports without Dropbox.

    • Import and export with the standard file picker when you are not linked to Dropbox, and import Excel and other spreadsheet files directly.
    • Explainer screens on the import, image import and reconciliation flows, with a template you can download.
    • A persistent banner shows when you are offline or on the free plan, and check-in / check-out mode handles lost items better.

7.4.3 and 7.4.4 (July 18 and 23) fixed memory crashes on very large accounts and let you export only sales or only purchases.

  13. Version 7.3.0

    Expenses and True Profit.

    • Pro subscribers can track item and order expenses to see true profit and margins.
    • An Add from Barcode button at the top of the new item screen.
    • Orders are still generated when you add stock signed out, the keyboard stays out of the way of quantity and cost fields, and drawers blur the screen behind them.

    7.3.2 (July 4) added a pending-orders filter to an item's order list and tidied the check-in / check-out lifecycle.

  14. Version 7.2.0

    The customer portal.

    • A customer management portal for Pro users: every customer, their orders and their totals in one place. Personal subscribers can preview it.
    • Offline orders process more reliably, and start-up delays are gone.
  15. Version 7.1.0

Register Mode by the unit, and Android catches up.

    • Register Mode sells by unit price, and the Summary tab splits into item and order views with their filters in a bottom bar.
    • Print CSV exports with AirPrint, items sort by last modified, and the barcode scanner is steadier, with a spinner while a UPC is looked up.
    • The Android app reaches parity with iOS: cart checkout, Square, Register Mode, team roles, barcode lookup, PDF export, variants and Google Play billing.

7.1.1 through 7.1.6 (April to May) fixed Mac launch, Dropbox import and offline sync issues.

  16. Version 7.0.0

    The redesign.

    • A card-based item list with stat chips, and a redesigned item screen with a blurred backdrop.
    • Orders, order detail and the Summary tab rebuilt as card dashboards with visual metrics.
    • Create an order straight from the item edit screen, and the camera focuses closer for small barcodes.

The 6.27 and 6.28 releases over the winter fixed iPad navigation, dark-mode tab bars and order caching.
